Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Ilkov Group LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates mobile applications including ScanLyte. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.
Information We Collect
Our apps are designed with privacy as a core principle. ScanLyte stores your documents on your device and runs scanning, OCR, categorization, bill detection, and redaction there. We do not collect, store, or transmit your scanned documents. The only data that leaves your device is described in the AI Features and Analytics sections below.
AI Features
Some ScanLyte features send the text recognized from a document to an AI model to produce a result: Instant Explanations, Instant Summaries, Ask your archive, Smart Enhance, and Contract red flags. Availability depends on your plan; a small monthly allowance of Instant Explanations is included on the free tier.
When you use one of these features, the document's text is sent over an encrypted connection to a proxy we operate on Cloudflare, which forwards it to OpenAI's API and returns the answer. The proxy does not log or retain document text, and we do not use it to train models. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to its processing of the request. The proxy identifies paid subscribers by an Apple transaction identifier so it can apply your plan's allowance, and free-tier installs by a random per-install identifier that is not tied to your name, Apple ID, or any advertising identifier.
AI results are advisory. Contract red flags in particular points out clauses worth asking about and is not legal advice.
Subscription Data
Subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not have access to your payment information. Apple may share anonymized purchase data with us for analytics purposes.
Analytics
ScanLyte sends a small number of anonymous product-interaction events to a server we operate, for example that the upgrade screen was shown, that a purchase was completed, or that a bill reminder was set. Each event contains only the event name, an optional feature label, the name of your plan tier, and the app version. It contains no device identifier, no user identifier, no document content, and no location. The events are stored as aggregate counters and are used solely to understand which features are used and where people stop; they are not used for advertising, are not shared with third parties, and are not used to track you across apps or websites. Apple may additionally provide us with aggregated, anonymized App Store analytics and crash reports.
Bill Reminders and Notifications
If you set a bill reminder, ScanLyte schedules a local notification on your device using the due date and amount it found on the bill. Reminder details are stored on your device only. Notifications require your permission, which you can withdraw at any time in iOS Settings.
Data Storage
All documents, scans, and app data are stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your personal content. By default your documents are excluded from iCloud backup; you can include them by turning on "Allow iCloud Backup of Scans" in Settings, in which case they are protected by Apple's iCloud security rather than transmitted to us. Privacy Passport documents are encrypted on the device and unlocked with Face ID or your passcode.
Third-Party Services
- Apple App Store, for subscription management and payment processing
- Cloudflare, which hosts our AI proxy and the anonymous analytics counters described above
- OpenAI API, for the AI features described above (document text only, not retained by us)
Children's Privacy
Our apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
